Student Spotlight: Undergraduate Fellow Erienne Terpak interns with Army Futures Command

Aug 30, 2019

Terpak is a recent graduate of UT Austin with a B.A. in International Relations/Global Studies and a certificate in Security Studies from the Clements Center. This summer, Erienne is interning at Army Futures Command in the Commander’s Action Group. Her responsibilities have included organizing guest conferences with the command and doing research on a variety of topics, including the protests in Hong Kong. She is also working on a long-term research project on the public, mass media, and social media perception of the new command.

“I honestly never pictured myself getting directly involved with the military in my career, but Army Futures Command is a whole different animal. Placing a new Army command downtown in a high-rise, with non-uniformed soldiers and civilians together in one office working alongside one another – it works to create an amazing culture. Learning about this new command has certainly been like drinking water from a fire hose, but everyone has been so welcoming and they have all encouraged me to continue to make investments in my learning. I honestly cannot even begin to express to the Center how grateful I am for making this outstanding experience a possibility for me.”
