Huitt spotlight

Claire Huitt is a rising third year dual degree student, pursuing her J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and her M.A. in Global Policy Studies from the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs.  This summer, Claire is interning with the Department of Justice’s Office of International Affairs (OIA).  Attorneys at OIA work with domestic actors, such as prosecutors or law enforcement agents, and their foreign counterparts on matters such as extraditions, mutual legal assistance, and treaty negotiations.  Claire works on the regional team for Asia, the Middle East, and Africa. In her internship thus far, Claire has had the opportunity to work on a wide variety of cases ranging from white collar crime cases to terrorism cases. The internship has been incredibly hands-on – Claire has helped prepare and review extradition requests, conducted legal research, and helped draft requests for international evidence gathering.
