Professor Slick emphasized that “students have an extraordinary range of opportunities” at UT to develop their knowledge of national security issues and listen to distinguished guest speakers. Reciprocally, Professor Inboden noted that visiting campus offers unique benefits for the university and for guest speakers. The University of Texas System, under the leadership of Chancellor Bill McRaven, has recently created the Texas National Security Network, aiming to make UT among the leading world universities in the field of national security and intelligence.   

Beyond the events, fellowships, and scholarships offered by the Clements Center, Strauss Center, and Intelligence Studies Project, Professor Slick highlighted a new course offering for undergraduate students in Spring 2017, taught by LBJ Professor Paul Pope, on “Intelligence and National Security.” In the previous graduate course that Professors Inboden and Slick taught, students briefed senior Intelligence Community officials on policy recommendations that emerged from their year-long study of intelligence oversight.
