Igor Magalhaes is a senior double majoring in Government and History at The University of Texas at Austin. He serves as Vice-President of College Republicans and is an active member of the Clements Center, participating in the Maymester program in London last summer. Igor and his family came to the United States ten years ago from Brazil when his father received an offer to open a martial arts school in Houston, TX. Igor became interested in American politics and international affairs in High School after participating in the American Legion’s Texas Boys State program. His primary interests lay in Latin-American affairs and the U.S election process. Throughout college, he has been highly involved in the Texas political system; interning at the Texas Capitol during the 85th legislative session, with the campaigns of Governor Abbott and Senator Cruz, and in a political strategy firm. Upon graduation, Igor hopes to attend law school and get a Masters in Public Administration and eventually become a political consultant.
