Michael Gibbs

Michael Gibbs is a PhD student in the government department, studying comparative politics and methodology.  His current research covers insurgent organizations, primarily the relationship between non-combat and combat wings of the group.  He is also interested in the relationship between insurgents and civilians they claim to represent, and how prior research on regime type can provide insight into these dynamics.  Prior to UT he was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone, and before that worked for CSIS and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy in DC.
